?Coming from a divorced home, abandoned by her father who later committed suicide, leaving her nation for a foreign mission field, surviving a debilitating lung disease, enduring economic hardships and experiencing cultural misunderstandings, she has overcome many obstacles and has identified with the trials in life many people face. These hardships have helped create the theme around her life, "Don't give up!"
